What is our mission?

Social counseling is intended for people in difficult life situations, which are unable to resolve by themselves. Through advice, information, assistance and active support we want to reduce or prevent social exclusion and lead these people to empowerment, independent decision making and acceptance of the responsibility for their actions.

We also connectively using the service in the Community Centre (service for families with children and low-threshold center for children and youth) and thus we strive for a comprehensive social work with families.

 

Who are our services for?

Our services are aimed at people who are in a difficult situation, which they are unable to resolve by themselves.

Examples of these situations:

  • Unemployment
  • Homelessness, inability to maintain housing
  • Inability to meet its obligations
  • Life in human-degrading conditions
  • Difficulties in exercising their rights, etc.

 

People can contact us in case:

  • Require specific information
  • Need information on other social services
  • Need help dealing with personal issues
  • Need for escort agencies or other institutions, etc.

We provide direct assistance in solving social problems especially for people from urban areas of Silesian Ostrava (Muglinov - Village Coexistence Heřmanice - Liščina, Hrušov). Social counseling services can be also used for people from the remote locations.

We provide services to clients from the age of 15. In a situation when the clinic turned the child under 15 years old, we will arrange follow-up assistance for services or organizations that are dedicated to this age group (for example additional services).

 

What is our aim?

  • To offer clients a safe and supportive environment
  • To promote pro-active, self-sufficiency and independence in solving their client's situation
  • Create a professional environment that the client could oriented in its situation
  • To familiarize the clients with their rights and responsibilities and teach them how to use it properly
  • The extension of social skills and a client to overcome difficult life situations
  • Improve client’s information and guidance services

 

From what principles we come out?

No payment

- Counseling is free

Confidentiality and anonymity

- Social worker counseling is bound to secrecy, maintaining confidentiality of communicated (social worker is not deprived of reporting on such a serious crime)

- The client has the right to speak anonymously

Impartiality

- Social counseling services are provided to all people regardless of race, sex, age, disabilities, sexual orientation, political affiliation, religion or social status

Independence

- During the settlement of Disputes is social worker independent of any external entities

Respect

- Social worker counseling respects the client's decision as a means to resolve their situation

 

What services do we provide?

Professional counseling is in accordance with § 37 of Act No. 108/2006 Coll. on social services.

Professional social counseling includes the following main activities:

a) to connect the social environment, procurement of related services

b) socio-therapeutic activities, providing consultancy in the areas of orientation in social systems, law, psychology and education, the basic operation can be performed by providing at least 2 of these areas

c) Assist in the implementation of rights and legitimate interests in the provision of personal issues, assistance in dealing with routine matters, assistance in recovering or establishing contact with the natural social environment

Our services are provided as an outpatient clinic on the premises of social and terrain, visits by officers or directly in the families.

We provide advice and information in the following areas:

  • Social issues (social benefits, social services, etc.)
  • Employment and Industrial Relations (job search, resumes, statements, etc.)
  • Housing (search, social housing, help in maintaining current housing, etc.)
  • Family, child care and interpersonal relationships
  • Debt advice

We also arrange contacts with other professionals and organizations providing social services and try to help you or provide related services.

 

What specific assistance can we offer?

  • Interview, emotional support, hearing
  • Maintenance of offices and other institutions and assistance in negotiating
  • Assistance in dealing with personal issues (helping with filling in forms, drafting of necessary documentation, assist with the processing of written documents, etc.)
  • Mediation of the telephone, fax, copier, Internet
  • Actively seeking employment (assistance and training in writing resumes and accompanying letters of motivation, practice different scenarios, etc.)
  • Help with debt problems, negotiate a repayment schedule, negotiations with the executors, planning the family budget, etc.
  • The independent solution of interpersonal conflicts
  • Support for families (support or assistance in coping with everyday duties, individual skills training and skills to manage normal but difficult life situations by themselves, strengthen the competencies of individual family members to their activation, etc.)
  • Providing information on other services
  • Mediation clothing

 

What services do we not offer?

  • Material or financial assistance
  • Calculation of social benefits (we provide only counseling in this area)
  • Tax consultancy
  • Advice in commercial matters
  • Babysitting

Under what conditions can we refuse to provide services?

  • Does not provide the social services which you request (in this case, the clinic staff will tell you the information about other organizations that can help you.)
  • If we do not have sufficient capacity to provide services, so-called the social worker deals with another client (employee counseling will book you to the nearest free time.)

 

Another situation where we do not provide services:

  • The person is under the influence of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances (including alcohol)
  • Person by the conduct threatens others present (threatening, aggressive behavior)
  • The person is committing crimes or harming foreign affairs
  • People who repeatedly refuse to participate in solving their situation and thereby abandoning responsibility for social workers
  • The person who refers to Christian love in order to obtain special services, which provides counseling (money, material things and requires prioritizing their case, etc.)

 

What are your rights and obligations?

You have the right:

  • For provision quality and free services regardless of gender, age, race, ethnicity, origin, language, disability, faith and religion, political opinion, position in society
  • For confidentiality and discretion
  • The right to anonymity - Right to adopt and act with dignity and respect with regard to mental or physical condition
  • The right to provide information on options counseling, guidance the documentation and protect your personal data
  • The right to inspect own personal file
  • The right to receive information or collateral contacts to other organizations providing counseling and other social services
  • The right to independently decide how to proceed in resolving your situation
  • The right to refuse service being offered or at any time to terminate the cooperation
  • The right to assert a complaint or suggestion to operate services

Your responsibilities:

  • Obligation to act against an employee or other clients in accordance with the rules of propriety
  • The obligation to actively participate in addressing own situation
  • The obligation to respect the consultation hours, followed an agreed term consultation or to apologize for inability to attend the consultation (by phone, e-mail, in person)
  • The requirement in emergency situations threatening the safety (fire, water leakage, gas, etc.), follow the instructions of staff
